DrGL SKIN CARE LAUNCH, ESCENTIALS PARAGON.

I’ve been struggling with skin care for as long as I could remember. My best beauty advice is to trust an aesthetician decked in the latest Phoebe Philo creation. One either has style or substance. Dr. Georgia Lee has both.

Personally, I’ve not come across that many individuals so passionate. When Dr. Lee speaks of her success and the things she does, her dedication comes through. For me that’s a unique selling point for her new skincare line.

About a decade since the opening of TLC medical, the mother-mogul is back with the launch of her latest skincare line, DrGL. Having launched a medical spa sometime last week, it is only apt to have a fresh appearance for the skincare line.

The product now comes in an elegant emerald green packaging designed by award-winning creative director Thesus Chan and visuals by photographer John Clang. In addition to the re-branding of the products, a new addition of eye repair cream was introduced to the skincare line. Rumor has it that a close friend of Dr. Lee is fronting her skincare line and it’s not a lady. Alternatively, you may send a petition for me to front the campaign. Kidding.

Currently, apart from oral medications, I’ve been applying the collagen essence habitually. It is definitely mild and oftentimes gives that much needed suppleness to my skin. The compact powder is highly recommended too. (According to feedbacks of our readers and my sisters.) If you’re considering, do not take my words for it. Head down to Escentials Paragon and have a try. Different skin types works differently but rest assured it is safe.

How can I go on about how wonderful the products are without bagging something for our readers? I have a bottle of DrGL collagen essence from yesterday’s event. Simply tell us (by commenting below) why you need it. Good luck!

Escentials is located at Paragon Shopping centre, #03-02.

INAUGURAL MEN'S FASHION WEEK PRESS CONFERENCE.

Who knew we’d see this day – Singapore is hosting Asia’s Inaugural Men’s Fashion Week.

The Press Conference was held at the breath-taking ION SkyPark. The space was converted into a ‘Backstage’ set-up where models were made up right before our very eyes, which was certainly not an everyday occasion. We were literally light-headed from the adrenaline rush of inspecting racks and racks of fashion ranging from Emmanuel to Canali. Of course, the little chat with Philip Huang made our little ‘fashion vertigo’ all the more severe. This is just a taste of the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week, and let’s just say we are floored.

The event itself that will run from March 30th to April at Marina Bay Sands (venue TBC) promises to be a grand affair that will showcase a broad perspective on men’s style. International labels such as Boss Black and Etro will be showing side-by-side homegrown ones like Raoul. Also, hearsay has it that regional designers will also be represented in this showcase.

Of the 15 labels showing, ¾ of the designers or Senior Creative Directors will be present in Singapore to accompany their collections. Members of the public shall not fret about not getting a piece of MFW as 30% of the tickets will be on sale. This might also be your chance to rub shoulders with the faces of MFW namely Philip Huang and Utt .

Being the third of its kind in the world after Paris and Milan, it is no surprise that this initiative has already caught international media. We’ll be sure to document its progress every step of the way. Follow ONESIXTYNOTEPAD closely for first hand updates and exclusive inside story.

THE HANSEL SHOP, MANDARIN GALLERY.

Despite both of us feeling like germ balls, our sickly self made it to The Hansel Shop launch without infecting anyone. (I hope not, I’ve limited my social skills and not speak as much.) Previously situated along Stamford House, local label Hansel has moved to a more strategic location at the heart of Orchard Road shopping district.

Along with the official opening of the new store at Mandarin Gallery, founder and Creative Director Jo Soh was present to debut Lily The Lady Collection. The new store features a hand-drawn interior— a Hansel trademark and can be seen on its clothes too— also an uber fun backdrop for fun and spontaneous Polaroid sessions!

One fun fact about designer Jo Soh; she shaved her head for a camping trip as she wouldn’t want to bring along a hair dryer! If that doesn’t say spontaneity and describe the vibe of the store, you’ll just have to convince yourself when you visit the new Hansel Shop.

The Hansel Shop is located at #02-14, Mandarin Gallery.

FACEHUNTER AT A CURIOUS TEEPEE.

So we have met a few notable figures, but last week we found ourselves on the outskirts of the social crowd trying to inch in closer to Yvan Rodic, the founder of Facehunter. Maybe it was the crowd that was rather overwhelming or perhaps we felt highly underdressed. Believe me when I say everyone was dressed to impress - feathered hats, chunky jewellry and (god forbid) some Andre Leon Talley capes too! It was a colourful affair to say the least.

Meeting the father of streetstyle himself was quite an experience especially since we followed - almost worshiped- his blog when we first started ours. He really made it legit for a lot of people to wear their individuality on their sleeves and follow through with brave style choices. That Thursday night felt like a celebration for what FaceHunter stood for and we were honoured to have been part of it. Truth be told, we had our little fashion moment!

There was little not to like except for maybe for the booze that was a little too strong for the time of day. But hey I don’t hear anyone else complaining? That said, the venue echoed the eclectic sensibility we saw in the crowd. Curious Teepee stocks up on the most adorable one-of-a-kind pieces that we all need to add more umph to that basic outfit. This also includes those by local designers. My personal favourite are those from the label Sundays. For the rest of you, the place has great gift ideas this Christmas that will definitely make an impression. Well the night’s event certainly left me ‘Curious’ for more.

A Curious Teepee is located at Scape. Open daily noon-9.00pm.
Cafe & bar are open till 12am every Friday & Saturday.

UNIQLO +J FW 2010 PRESS PREVIEW.

A-year since its debut on our shores, the Uniqlo +J line is back for its third season consisting of an array of over 100 items. The turnout for the press preview wasn’t as overwhelming as the last; it was way too early in the morning to be spending SGD399 and SGD249 on an outerwear and knitwear respectively.

At first glance, the pieces looked similar as the first collaboration but there’s more to it; a little more volume, texture, the length and proportions is ‘unexpected’. The cuts are slimmer but it’s not something that will compliment all body type, one definitely has to shed a few pounds in order to pull the boxy outerwear.

While I would love to own each and every piece possible, the price was definitely out of reach for the average shopper like myself. Perhaps if there was a formal introduction regarding the new fabrication used (if any) to justify the price increase then maybe we won't to hesitate spend a little more but for now, I’ll wait patiently for the clearance sale.

BOTTEGA VENETA OPENS AT MBS.

Trust Bottega Veneta to deliver true luxury with its superior quality products that reek venerable Italian craftsmanship. Cosumers who prefer a quiet elegance and have well past the 'logomania' phase would invest in a good piece from BV any day. Now they can do so at the newly-opened Marina Bay Sands store. Bottega Veneta's products are understated and effortless, its consumers are confident and well-assured of their social statuses, a BV doesn't even need to serve as a symbol of wealth. Each item is a piece from a lifestyle that reads 'I have arrived' without screaming so.

There were numerous occasions where I was floored by BV's confections. Most notably was (and still is!) the crimson intercciato nappa brief from SS'09 for which I'm willing to subject myself to menial labour. It's a bit dated but it can be my staple anytime, you have to see it for youself. Now, advice to those who can't wait to get your hands on its latest season - which includes a particular affluent teacher I spy in school who wears BV head-to-toe all days of the week - you may head down to the Marina Bay Sands store because you'll be glad to find that it's the only store in Singapore that carries the Resort Collection. Yes, and we all know resort works very well with our weather.

So the next time you are looking for something timeless, classic and epicly gratifying all at the same time you might want to head down to Marina Bay Sands and into the Bottega Veneta boutique. With BV we can all try not to be a walking billboard with the 'logomania' already.

DSQUARED2 & DESIGNARE JOINT EVENT AT ION.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better— or so we thought— Designaré Magazine threw an exclusive closed-door event at the DSquared2 boutique at ION. Cocktail, canapés and a private presentation, the people at Designaré certainly weren’t joking about exclusivity. The intimate event has gathered friends of Designaré, the brand’s devotee, and celebrities—and then there’s us assaulting every single garment on the racks. The Caten twins ought to be concerned.

The fun starts when the card swiping begins. I wouldn’t be exaggerating to say that everyone was like a kid in a candy store; literally, picking runway pieces like how I would normally buy mints from the provisional shop.

It’s great to see familiar faces, we chatted to people we often meet at events and err, checking each other’s teeth for chocolate stains? Hah! We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and can’t wait to debut our papillons and portachiavi!
