DESIGNARE MAGAZINE, PARTY BY THE BAY.

Four days after, we’re still beaming and squealing with delight on the inside. I was a star-struck kid and still smiling ear to ear. My way there wasn’t easy either; we were discussing the possibilities of meeting our very own style icon and sure enough we were introduced to her. You should see me; I was talking gibberish.

The newly erected Fullerton Bay Hotel played host to over 400 esteemed guest, socialites and celebrities.( Zoe Tay, Patricia Mok, Fann Wong & Christopher Lee to name a few) We, however, do not fall in any of those categories but was fortunate to be invited by the bureau chief of Designaré Magazine, Frank Cintamani.

The old Clifford Pier was transformed into a luxe party venue with dimly lit chandelier and guest were art décor-inspired. One could only imagine what it’s like to be there― it was like a scene of Titanic, when Jack sat down for dinner.

We chatted up with writers, creative directors and editors of Designaré throughout, ate tasty beef and the most delicious risotto. Just when I thought they were wrapping up the event, Mr. Cintamani pulled us aside to join David Gan’s birthday celebration. Because having celebrity friends to grace your party isn’t sufficient, he blew candle from a 5-tier Birkin cupcakes with a life-sized fondant Birkin as a topper. (Take that MTV super sweet sixteen!)

The most memorable part of the evening was (well, all actually) when we took the lift up to the rooftop. You can’t say you’ve seen all of Singapore until you set foot at the Lantern. The view was breathtaking and it’s a side of Singapore that I’ve never seen before. (Pardon for the lack of off-the-moment pictures because the resident photographer decided to take an off day to bask in all the chi chi glory.) It was surreal and frankly, I was overwhelmed with all kind of emotions. To be there with amazing individuals was such an honor. I thank Mr. Cintamani for extending the invite to us and it will definitely be the highlight of our blogging journey.

OSCAR 2010 RED CARPET PREDICTIONS.

You too need a life or you’ll start predicting Oscar dresses like me.

Anyways.

The only time I could remember Zoe Saldana not wearing cocktail dresses was when she wore that (hate to use this word but yeah) epic RM by Roland Mouret and Marchesa. I really hope to see her in floor length gown like look 17 from Marchesa Fall 2010, RM, closing looks from Prabal Gurung Fall 2010 or maybe Giambattista Valli. I would die if she wore something from Valentino Spring couture! And please wear something with lace.

Carey Mulligan is probably the only one who knows what’s appropriate for the red carpet; floor length to film awards and cocktail dresses for festivals or premiers. She’s been wearing a lot of Prada but judging from the granny chic happening recently, I doubt she’s wearing any from that collection. Most probably she would have picked something by custom Vionnet, Nina Ricci’s closing look for Fall 2010 (almost impossible but rooting for that), Lanvin Pre-Fall look 28, or maybe Prabal Gurung.

In other news, the big girls MoNique, Amber Riley of glee fame and Precious (don’t know her name) will all wear Tadashi Shoji. Anna Hathaway will wear anything that Rachel Zoe feeds her, most probably Armani Prive. Nicole Kidman in L’wren Scott and oh SURPRISE! Klumsters will wear anything sponsored, anything red, dress that glitters and with long massive train or poof. Drew Berrymore in Dior? Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham. Dinie Rahman in Valentino couture. One thing I’m sure of, someone will walk down that red carpet in Carolina Herrera. For sure.

GRAMMY AWARDS 2010.

Can we discuss the Grammys, please?

The Grammys was all about gaga so, lets fill our head with more Lady Gaga trivia. Besides having both clits and penis, what else do you know about Gaga? Did you know that Akon discovered Lady Gaga? I know right, so tragic. As if that Armani Prive wasn’t tragic enough, I had to disappoint you such devastating information.

The bolder Gaga gets with her outfits, the more tragic she looks. At first it was ‘Oh wow Margiela so chic’ now it’s more like ‘oh wow Margiela shit’. That was hideous, you look like a mobile steam boat restaurant from east coast food centre floating on the red carpet of the Grammys.

And of course our personal favorite, Miss Sasha Fierce. Yo Beyonce, I’ma let you finish but you need to stop stealing clothes from Rihanna’s closet. Rihanna had the best closet of all time! No seriously, you need to stop playing dress-up with Rihanna’s wardrobe. You need a dress that fits not a dress that’s ‘fierce’! Let me break it down for you: A dress that fits mean a dress that is of size ten and above. A size two Atelier Versace dress is not appropriate for women of size twenty. Still don’t get it? Call me.

From the diva who force fit herself into a tiny dress to a diva who simply wants to fit in; Ciara. Where do I begin? How about, the unfortunate pairing of Ciara and Givenchy? Rihanna and Givenchy is harmony. Ciara and Givenchy equal ‘What the fuck is that I don’t get it’. The whole look itself wasn’t bad but, she looks like wallpaper in that ‘fierce’ off the runway couture piece! Well at least Beyonce tried hard to be fierce; Ciara is not even trying to werq that couture piece.

Out of four of the ‘high fashion’ divas that I was excited about, I like only one. Rihanna in Elie Saab couture is best dressed. One thing I would do differently is the hair and makeup. I would prefer it to be sleek backwards with a darker make up instead of the frosty white eye shadow.

Both Lady Gaga and Rihanna have their own ‘identity’ when it comes to fashion, I suggest the other two pretty ladies should focus on being pretty in gowns and stop with the fierce factor.Dinie is not pleased.

MY FIRST GQ MAGAZINE.

Sorry, i just had to choose the one with Zac Efron. I've never really sat down and had a GQ in my hand until today. The price of the magazine is debatable and at the end of the day, my mom bend the edges and i'll automatically dislike that issue. I try to refrain from buying magazines. I might rethink what i've said, if i had the money to actually choose stuff from the editorial/trend/must-have page itself then why not.For those who have plenty, good for you. For now,I think the internet is more efficient.

Anyway, bless my soul ( for you know i'll always regret ) to what I'm about to say. "Dinie, you don't need to aww for heels, not for the latest purse or dress for that matter". i'll leave that to you guys.

I think i like GQ magazine more than anything else right now. No, confirm that, i love GQ.

JONAS BROTHERS, NICK JONAS.

Haters to the left, Miley cyrus, closet fans and lovers listen. I know, I'm so 'uncool' because i like the Jonai and you're everything because Gaga in Margiela and Rihanna in Balmain are so IN. Okay, actually i dont really care about Joe and the fat one but, Nick (the one with lesser body hair) is like my replacement for Britney Spears at the moment. That's how bad I'm trying to convince myself that curls are gorgeous.

You see, i was 'bless' with curls and i'm trying very very very hard to embrace my 'natural beauty'. So here's a picture of my curls.Opinions?
