AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010: ROBERTO CAVALLI.

Don't call my name; don't call my name, Roberto.

On second thought why would he right? Mr. Cavalli made it clear that he “love women and he love sex”. I’m not kidding, that was how he close the speech. Moving on to reviews— We’ll skip the part about how gorgeous his bodyguard/nephew/assistant was.

It starts with a video montage of the designer and his contribution in the past years. They say men are like wine they get better with age. Mr. Cavalli turned orange with age. Well at least that’s what I noticed. The montage was entertaining nonetheless.

The word ‘epic’ is overrated but really, epic (on a Singapore scale) is the only word suitable to describe— Mr. Cavalli himself agreed that this show was special.

Presented along with the latest Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collections were handpicked dresses from the Cavalli archives. For every feather piece that walked out, I was literally shaking in my (F-row) seat. It was amazing, it’s not everyday you’ll get to see Roberto Cavalli’s iconic gowns all in one show. Everyone who wasn’t familiar or didn’t like his creations earlier, walked out as Cavalli converts.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010: HOUSE OF HOLLAND.

Rumor has it that Agyness Deyn was in Singapore to lend support to dear friend Henry Holland. The audience scanned the first row expectantly in search of the Brit but they were disappointed. On the contrary, House of Holland was far from a let down. The collection was brimming with lollipop grunge attitude with yummy candy colors that you’d just want to pop into your mouth.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010: ALLDRESSEDUP.

It was unfortunate that I was seated beside ‘the innocent blogger that everyone love to hate’ but you didn’t think I was going to did you? She was so giving me the evil stare! I was moved to second row on the opposite side, thanks to the helpful PRs of Mercury!

Now, moving on to the collection.

The one-glove styling, similar drapes, chunky necklace, bronze and fur stole—How could one not make a reference to Lavin, it was pretty obvious but not as great of course. I’m unfamiliar with the brand history but I was right, it was design by a team of designers. The direction of the clothes was all over the place, it lacks cohesiveness. Don’t get me started on the styling and shoes, I will go on forever.

I was expecting so much more, something better than the previous one since it was by a team of young designers. They should have better and innovative ideas; think Guillaume Henry revives Carven, take it to that direction.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010: TIFFANY.

Upping the extravaganza of Audi fashion festival was the Legendary Tiffany Style, with fashion by Herve Leger. It was definitely different to see their signature bandage dress up-close, as it was definitely different to see collarbones protruding out of them. Someone suggested we bring zee muddles to McDonalds for a quarter pounder.

A re-run of fashion is never really about the clothes anyways; it’s about mingling, Birkins and everything in between. Legendary Tiffany Style was the closing show on the third day of Audi Fashion Festival; I had the most fun and great memories that day. It was simply too awesome.

DR. GEORGIA LEE.

You must be living under a pile of feather hats (nope, still not done with that joke!) to not know that we’re obsessed with this lady. Dr Georgia Lee is an entrepreneur and a medical esthetician but what you really need to know; She owns (many, perhaps too many and should be donated to me) great runway pieces.

They say the queen towers above all— the tallest, slenderest and everything divine, she was the highlight of my Audi Fashion Festival 2010. Dr. Lee wore a Lanvin drape-dress on the first day and continued to wow us with pieces like Celine (or was it Chloe?), Roberto Cavalli and Balmain.

Didn’t get any photo opp with the queen and she shunned from our cameras a few times but she did mentioned something to our resident photographer on the last day— “now you can have my picture”. That six-letter word made his day.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL 2010: MARCHESA.

If not for disgraceful supporters of Song Kyunga, the show would be marvelous. Shame on them, they did kind of ‘degrade’ the quality of the show. It’s a runway presentation, not a dog show. So why howl and cheer each time she walk? To quote Caroline Issa of Tank magazine and style.com, “Watched the Marchesa show with Bryanboy with hooligans in the audience...bizarre!”

And only in Singapore will you see people in slack short-tee combo and kids (kids as in children.) having front of house seats at a prestigious show like Marchesa.

The show was beautifully presented with dresses hand-picked by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa. Unfortunately for the import model, our very own Sheila Sim was the showstopper and got all of us mesmerized when she walked out in a purple origami dress. Marchesa at Audi Fashion Festival 2010 was a memorable one.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL DAY 4.

You could feel lots of negative energy in the tents. To be expected since shows were ticketed, expect a different kind of crowd. How I wished Fashion week in Singapore was focused towards understanding the collection and not about hierarchy.

Words spread like wildfire and rumor has it that someone who had on a different colored (loaned & rented, allegedly) IT-bag each day was responsible for the ‘sponsored blogger’ commotion.

So it came as a pleasant surprise when I found that a local retail giant has decided to sponsor the wardrobes of several local fashion bloggers for all the AFF shows that they would be attending. Many of these fashion bloggers have been showing delight over their sponsored threads by posting pictures of their AFF outfits on their blogs. Well, kudos to them, I must say, even if this means they won’t be wearing Marchesa to the Marchesa show. After all, when you are blessed with BCBG, there is nothing wrong with giving Tangs.

Poor Fash-E was Fash-Hagged. Not a bad thing, any publicity is good publicity no? Not at least until a journalist approaches me to as if I was wearing BCBG!

I died.

And as if my day couldn’t get any more exciting, someone mistook me for Bryanboy. Shame on you; call yourself a fashion blogger feathered lady! Tsk.

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL DAY 3.

It was second to none— Stalking socialites, catching up with the amigos, adopting the public restroom as a temporary dressing room, the fashion week experience is beyond! And for the team, it must have been great to be back in the circuit again.

The evening shows unlike the previous one, was invite-only. Day three VIP lounge were better and if you think the attendees couldn’t get any richer than the ones yesterday, you’re wrong! Dr Georgia Lee in Balmain and black Freja lace-up, checked. TANK Magazine’s and Jak & Jil regular Caroline Issa front row at Marchesa, checked. Tell me, besides that Marchesa dress Sheila Sim wore, what more can I ask for?

AUDI FASHION FESTIVAL DAY 1.

I was perplexed by today’s event —to say the least. Honestly, maybe it’s because I was feeling unwell. But really, don’t you think having two Filipino maids standing at media’s pit and magazine editors seated on the fourth row weird? Sitting opposite the Caten twins (Dean and Dan) and Carmen Kass was probably the highlight of the entire evening.
